Arts & Crafts

At Delgado Family Child Care, we have a dedicated arts and crafts closet stocked with a variety of materials, including paints, brushes, crayons, markers, playdough, and collage supplies.  We believe that the act of creating is more valuable than the outcome itself, therefore we are constantly encouraging kids to draw and paint freely . During open-ended art activities, children are encouraged to explore their ideas freely, choosing how they want to express themselves. They might paint a picture, sculpt with playdough, or make a collage, all without any set rules. This approach fosters creativity, builds decision-making skills, and encourages problem-solving. In addition to open-ended activities, we also offer guided art and craft projects that help children follow instructions and stay focused. By the time they enter school, they will have developed important skills in self-expression, listening, and active participation in group activities.

 

 

Music & Dance
Research shows that exposure to music can significantly enhance a child’s ability to recognize patterns and predict rhythm, fostering cognitive development. At our daycare, children are encouraged to explore age-appropriate musical instruments, allowing them to develop their sensory and motor skills. Through movement and dance, children are free to express themselves creatively, whether through guided teacher-led activities or spontaneous exploration. Our daycare is also proud to offer Zumbini classes, where children actively participate in rhythmic exercises and dance, using a variety of engaging tools to enhance their self-expression and physical coordination. These activities promote confidence, social interaction, and emotional development in a fun and supportive environment.

 

Science 

At DFCC, our science program sparks curiosity and learning through hands-on, age-appropriate experiments inspired by the STEAM program. Each week, we explore a new theme through interactive activities, such as experimenting with vinegar and food coloring or baking soda reactions, while reinforcing the concepts with related books and discussions. Children participate in both clean and messy experiments, some of which they can take home, while others focus on exploring scientific concepts right in the classroom. Through play and guided exploration, we encourage children to ask questions, observe, and think critically, making science an exciting and memorable part of their day.

Writing 

 

At our daycare, we focus on making writing a fun and engaging experience for young children, without relying on typical preschool methods. Our approach encourages children to explore writing through age-appropriate activities that evolve as they grow. For our littlest learners, we start by helping them practice holding crayons, markers, and pencils, while encouraging them to draw and make marks freely. As they grow older, we introduce activities like tracing with their hands or little fingers, allowing them to build the hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills needed for proper writing. This process is designed to help children feel comfortable and confident in their writing abilities, preparing them for a smooth transition to school-age writing.

Outdoor Play 

At our daycare, we are excited to announce that we are currently remodeling our outdoor play area to provide a larger and more dynamic space for children to explore and enjoy. Set to open in early 2025, the expanded area will offer a variety of opportunities for running, jumping, and climbing, all of which are essential for developing gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. The outdoor play environment will also provide valuable exposure to sunlight, helping children get the Vitamin D they need for strong bones and overall health. Additionally, we will have cozy seating areas where little ones can relax, unwind, and enjoy a good book if they prefer a quieter moment. We can’t wait to watch all the exciting outdoor adventures unfold in the year ahead!

 

Animal Feeding

At Delgado Family Child Care, we are proud to offer a unique and enriching experience that sets us apart – our very own farm-like environment! With a horse and chickens onsite, the children in our care have the amazing opportunity to feed, pet, and interact with these animals. This hands-on experience not only brings joy but also teaches important values like responsibility, empathy, and the care needed to look after animals and the outdoors. Whether it's the excitement of feeding the horse or gathering eggs from the chickens, these moments are more than just fun – they help foster a deep connection with nature. The chance to care for our animals is an experience that will stay with your child for years, making it an unforgettable bonus of being part of our daycare family. Handwashing

At Delgado Family Child Care, we prioritize the health and safety of every child in our care. In light of the recent health pandemic, we have reinforced our commitment to hygiene, with hand washing being an essential part of our daily routine. Children wash their hands frequently, especially before meals, snacks, and transitioning between activities, ensuring they maintain proper hygiene throughout the day. This practice is not only a fundamental part of our health protocols but also a vital step in keeping our daycare a safe, healthy environment for all. We take these measures seriously to protect the well-being of every child and staff member.

 

Meals & Snacks

At our daycare, we provide homemade meals and snacks made with fresh, high-quality ingredients to support your child's well-being. Meals are served at set times throughout the day, based on hours of care meals include the following:

Infants receive on-demand bottle feeding. Parents are welcome to send their own meals or snacks if preferred. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions or allergies.
